(Maybe 15-20 minutes later, she told my brother that he would have to wait till his appointment time.) You need to go through the process by 11:00 am for same day delivery. Then you stand in another line to get your ticket number. There is a one final main line where the application is processed. One one person was at each station. They say no cell phones or backpacks - the no cell phone usage is heavily enforced. Fill out everything online first to make sure it's a smooth process, but there are laptops there if necessary. </span></p></span>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-78211725145427282782010-01-29T00:59:00.001-08:002010-01-29T01:10:13.721-08:00Vintage Inspiration<div>I love the idea of incorporating vintage postcards and images into the reception decor. Perhaps in a collage type photo wall or a twist on the guest book, where guests could write a congratulatory note the back of postcards and they would be displayed afterwards. These are from <a href="http://www.imagesofasia.com/">Images of Asia</a>. What is it that everyone is saying now... what's old is new? They really illustrate the diversity of the Indian landscape - picturesque natural beauty, man-made artistic splendor, and quaint village life. </div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6ZDwfNeKLvm__uw5keD-K0jm7fjL-y7cgK-KqxI5Xoo5y3ssdmW9At8Ayj18vfJe7OVHiI79puaYeUZiTglzTD5zH_ZK1zWc1vukihzfT7tRUg2x1SlQt29M_sWXpzPdt2IUpTl5E6Wc/s1600-h/Imagesofasia-kunchunjunga.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 198px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6ZDwfNeKLvm__uw5keD-K0jm7fjL-y7cgK-KqxI5Xoo5y3ssdmW9At8Ayj18vfJe7OVHiI79puaYeUZiTglzTD5zH_ZK1zWc1vukihzfT7tRUg2x1SlQt29M_sWXpzPdt2IUpTl5E6Wc/s320/Imagesofasia-kunchunjunga.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432086035706298306" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3tfj6a-AgNlNA3YidxTLnqBN7HuPIAYzxVL38-niBlqr7yvulGqTs9EfmmXmDR1IOiIfBnkfj6aKA7wnU3yDX9cbO2T1VXzyp9JFuFsqjkgxNnpHxW9dVRJOZ7QNKINRI8KX67bKLzDQ/s1600-h/Imagesofasia-taj-mahal.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 203px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3tfj6a-AgNlNA3YidxTLnqBN7HuPIAYzxVL38-niBlqr7yvulGqTs9EfmmXmDR1IOiIfBnkfj6aKA7wnU3yDX9cbO2T1VXzyp9JFuFsqjkgxNnpHxW9dVRJOZ7QNKINRI8KX67bKLzDQ/s320/Imagesofasia-taj-mahal.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432086028271759474" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHa1f-tMG0RMv6ojo01o3HzhEd7q1U30rGhviiSRzM_kEfWcqFyqTMckBfD5WXnHq3saQZRFTaadX1r8W0c3nbWqjm0ZQhuImXUyZKMY3GuzybnGX5b_NPXkcTg9wpTb082gyF3LDpVc8/s1600-h/Imagesofasia+-+bullock-cart-2.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 202px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHa1f-tMG0RMv6ojo01o3HzhEd7q1U30rGhviiSRzM_kEfWcqFyqTMckBfD5WXnHq3saQZRFTaadX1r8W0c3nbWqjm0ZQhuImXUyZKMY3GuzybnGX5b_NPXkcTg9wpTb082gyF3LDpVc8/s320/Imagesofasia+-+bullock-cart-2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432086024276262754" /></a>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-35666542961348872372010-01-21T22:51:00.000-08:002010-01-21T23:31:13.121-08:00A Big Book Comes to the Rescue<div style="text-align: left;">Planning a wedding without a wedding planner feels a little daunting at times, especially because I live hundreds of miles from my wedding location. Lucky for me, my mother and my sister (the maid of honor) are taking the reigns and doing lots of research and legwork. But since I am a type-A personality (no snarky remarks Mr. Fiance!), I was beginning to feel a little nervous... not because I doubt their diligence but simply because I am a details person. So I went down to my local bookstore and picked up a copy of The Wedding Book: The Big Book for Your Big Day. And at 485 pages, boy is it BIG. The book is by <a href="https://www.mindyweiss.com/">Mindy Weiss</a>, a celebrity wedding planner that I heard interviewed on the <a href="http://www.weddingpodcastnetwork.com/">Wedding Podcast Network</a> (a fabulous resource, more on that later).</div><div><br /></div><div>As expected from a book this size, every major and minor topic associated with engagement and wedding planning is covered in exhaustive detail. Yet despite its heft, the book is not at all daunting for a couple of reasons. One, the book is written a very conversation style so that you feel like a real person is sharing their experience with you. Two, the recommendations are never presented with the expectation of making everything "perfect." And let's face it, it's easy to feel that pressure at times, especially for a big wedding. Normally I gravitate towards books with lots of pictures. This one has no pictures, just sketches. I'm ok with this because there are plenty of other resources on the Internet to help with visuals.</div><div><br /></div><div>The information is presented in short easy-to-grasp "chunks" so you don't get overwhelmed at any one sitting. It's chock full of useful ideas and options to help you personalize your wedding. So far, I have just been randomly flipping through it and stopping on whatever catches my eye. Every once in a while something pops in my head and sure enough, the topic is covered. For the modest price, it's more than worth the peace of mind. I highly recommend checking it out.</div><div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkIH25JEmqqsIFxWa4C4tAJMEpQpuyVbPHBIYiRKpzlCTSKlX83YkodwaOUR2dEz47MDxndWrmcU6EyZ2x8Ovm_4-H1s1b4qekd4TxTyjAYc0hGs05IEWxPXN4A8lMPLzcnCgbF30r7ts/s1600-h/mindys-book.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkIH25JEmqqsIFxWa4C4tAJMEpQpuyVbPHBIYiRKpzlCTSKlX83YkodwaOUR2dEz47MDxndWrmcU6EyZ2x8Ovm_4-H1s1b4qekd4TxTyjAYc0hGs05IEWxPXN4A8lMPLzcnCgbF30r7ts/s320/mindys-book.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429462586147959714" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 255px; height: 277px; " /></a></div>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-3898744489558227482010-01-17T13:18:00.000-08:002010-01-17T15:10:54.299-08:00Clever Ideas for the Escort Card Table<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8GHRUI8Q0dwaOv_2HWP24WNDCDzSh0U7C0jYahRpeV7EOvFPXeus9xolUl-tPWU5GRHJj3VHQ7XSNKP3Sq5Zg_jjVwHkVEDof1PYb1SdfLNQBbfUuKmn8HCrJ9Ry0_ITE0Pr32gjXQ_0/s1600-h/Clementine+Place+cards+(martha+stewart+w).jpg"></a><div>From the beginning, the fiance and I have bonded over food (good and bad) so it has started to work its way into the wedding theme in a subtle way. This escort card idea is pure genius! Not to mention budget friendly and EASY. I never would have thought of using common Indian food staples like kidney beans, lentils and rice in a display like this. It's colorful and quirky. </div><div><br /></div><div>See more pictures of this wedding on <a href="http://daughterofdesign.blogspot.com/2008/11/chetna-and-matt-gotham-hall.html">Daughter of Design</a>.<div><br /></div></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD9IfE5Yix_VFW6MMkaOSSBPbkoCC3WzwHjONL2Ygr5sypvND24ehyphenhyphenC8xEocaXlmKpS2zBEtTC3FqwXGQVOybOPuyr4sz77atde_u3OlIUT38dRN0eNree8eQaTDxWu8yfIsqjPwF_rMg/s1600-h/daughterofdesign.blogspot+Escort+Card.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD9IfE5Yix_VFW6MMkaOSSBPbkoCC3WzwHjONL2Ygr5sypvND24ehyphenhyphenC8xEocaXlmKpS2zBEtTC3FqwXGQVOybOPuyr4sz77atde_u3OlIUT38dRN0eNree8eQaTDxWu8yfIsqjPwF_rMg/s320/daughterofdesign.blogspot+Escort+Card.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427823403596317602" /></a><div><br /></div><div>I also really like the idea of using fruit as an escort card because it's simple, rustic and charming. I saw a lot of big punches of color next to stark and rustic elements. While the site primarily focuses on interior design (something to think about AFTER the wedding), there is at least one blog post dedicated to styling an Indian wedding. Well I found it! Tulle is such a fun unique idea for Indian formal wear and I personally haven't seen it on anyone yet. It's looking simply gorgeous in these photos. The key is to have it peek out from underneath the skirt for a subtle effect while it provides hidden poofiness for a dramatic flair. Once again, Posh is on the cutting edge of fashion. Lighting can really have a huge impact on reception decor by transforming the space and creating a special mood. The best thing is that it can help you save money on flowers, linens and other details because it can mask the things you want to downplay. A good tip I've heard again and again is to focus on complexion-flattering light such as pink, lavender and amber and steer away from greens and blues which can affect pictures. Our venue offers a lighting package though I am wondering if it's enough to fill the space with the soft warm glow I am hoping for. As you can see the options range from enhanced natural light to striking dramatic ambiance.<div><br /></div><div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRiOvKMynTCQwryn5AhQdYv0t43v0DYbY_naOjeOMc5Nq56jlJOihoAkFSeEQl-KoXc-yiUlU-qbHA1DukgWrE7gfJSzrMiRUUvu3v8FrgTOqWZ1DbCxA9W_MY6zi5klAE_d6JhF4_lz4/s1600-h/amanda+and+brett.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 310px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRiOvKMynTCQwryn5AhQdYv0t43v0DYbY_naOjeOMc5Nq56jlJOihoAkFSeEQl-KoXc-yiUlU-qbHA1DukgWrE7gfJSzrMiRUUvu3v8FrgTOqWZ1DbCxA9W_MY6zi5klAE_d6JhF4_lz4/s320/amanda+and+brett.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426141514967211058" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Source: <a href="http://weddings.theknot.com/Real-Weddings/32684/view.aspx?type=1&id=32684">The Knot (Amanda & Brett)</a></div></div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn95-UFK5JycEQSmw6JxYNoZ_2QC2oG3hZACoQn4i64cDbn1vr6RF4e27dzj_9nfNAAaId8_NTQ8bKb9p1U9HIajMMKVuANw5jbtqbKBMvT2nScA-oJ05tE8_qn2xidW7LEx91RBS2pTM/s1600-h/the+knot+3+lighting.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 310px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn95-UFK5JycEQSmw6JxYNoZ_2QC2oG3hZACoQn4i64cDbn1vr6RF4e27dzj_9nfNAAaId8_NTQ8bKb9p1U9HIajMMKVuANw5jbtqbKBMvT2nScA-oJ05tE8_qn2xidW7LEx91RBS2pTM/s320/the+knot+3+lighting.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426141509817967122" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Source: The Knot</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG7AkFBeXukx4BVJUKUwNt8VxpvSS27jVPVH2uSFU3IYx3ltJ9UOzw_XK23BVMhHN7rJ-I24FVg9tVz-DPU6Ge8YyMG-U13qZ-mzfx0gI9o1nG140DgCboK9PDpgasp-LSrFx74u3qH2I/s1600-h/exclusiveeventsinc.com.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG7AkFBeXukx4BVJUKUwNt8VxpvSS27jVPVH2uSFU3IYx3ltJ9UOzw_XK23BVMhHN7rJ-I24FVg9tVz-DPU6Ge8YyMG-U13qZ-mzfx0gI9o1nG140DgCboK9PDpgasp-LSrFx74u3qH2I/s320/exclusiveeventsinc.com.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426141503284126914" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhucw5kyJgJbD8GywT-TMr-44KpKN4qKnKT-DjeGbQDcwRpa_tcRwXs9jXDz6Duf7Wbc31KhCTUP69CxftpW3nuKJo9dTUaYLFL9U_SH_OqDbOHw_lTHWW1-Nu22crQYeb6BdWmjKA-sIU/s1600-h/the+knot+2+lighting.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 310px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhucw5kyJgJbD8GywT-TMr-44KpKN4qKnKT-DjeGbQDcwRpa_tcRwXs9jXDz6Duf7Wbc31KhCTUP69CxftpW3nuKJo9dTUaYLFL9U_SH_OqDbOHw_lTHWW1-Nu22crQYeb6BdWmjKA-sIU/s320/the+knot+2+lighting.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426141492288565250" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Source: The Knot</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQV-yWRX-tybdW9HWEwM6qP-vPk_rQ8RvrGYFZWhLG8lpo6QAMbpe6llDVvI-iGsB15dSZ9ZyvYiZKxMGyK-BwdXwaCmRw_Z5fHOhf6S7Ybsw5_g_Bu97Z14y1CQkszE2k-6ZFDeGyLGo/s1600-h/augie+chang.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQV-yWRX-tybdW9HWEwM6qP-vPk_rQ8RvrGYFZWhLG8lpo6QAMbpe6llDVvI-iGsB15dSZ9ZyvYiZKxMGyK-BwdXwaCmRw_Z5fHOhf6S7Ybsw5_g_Bu97Z14y1CQkszE2k-6ZFDeGyLGo/s320/augie+chang.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426141490279126674" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Credit: Augie Chang photography</div></div></div>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-59830436718224390762010-01-10T22:14:00.000-08:002010-01-10T22:41:41.732-08:00Time for the Save the Date<div style="text-align: left;">Now that it looks like I'm honing in on my color palette, I can start thinking about the next big task at hand - the Save the Date card. At first I was thinking of just doing it electronically to save money and paper. But the fiance wisely talked me out of this. It will be nice to have something tangible in hand to kick off the invitation process and communication to our friends and family. We are lucky to have a graphic designer friend design our invitations. Here are some wedding invitation ideas that caught my eye recently and that will work nicely with the color palette in play.</div><div><br /></div><div>The first image is big, bold and graphic. I like how the date is the focal point, especially because I think we have a fun wedding date (7.3.10).</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUmuVIHdgmlT_SGto6TT-naHuu6Hx0Ggqc3hoXHxyw6rmm4Ta5gnbRYQB5BB_pzlKRH72bbPCWy4fghwcjmJuAxzJ0CZmeOQ1Mwl4EBQArMYa5isrCnNTKXSMwpvXBYi_ycoV1hu0P9A8/s320/il_430xN.22298943.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425363913081904370" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></span><div>This next idea is for a save the date postcard. Granted, I do reserve the right to tweak said palette...but it's looking like I'm headed in the Pink and Orange direction. Not just any pink and orange though. Specifically, Fuchsia and Saffron - i.e. a deep hot pink and a dark vibrant red-orange. Indian weddings are very festive and celebratory in nature. In fact, I am planning to make a trip to India to do my wedding shopping. A few weeks ago, at my mother's prodding, I drove down to Artesia - aka Little India - with the fiance to have a first look at some Indian bridal dress options. Ideally I am looking for a lehenga for the reception and sari for the ceremony. I still haven't picked my color palette (eek!) so I thought the sky was the limit in terms of color options. However, I have since discovered from my mother and various helpful websites that it is most traditional and lucky for the North Indian bride to wear a red sari (or something in the red family like pink or burgundy).<div><br /></div><div>From <a href="http://www.citysaheli.com/2009/what%E2%80%99s-in-the-color/">CitySaheli.com</a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:small;">The color red has deep rooted significance as it represents abundance and fertility. Today, many brides stick to this tradition and wear red on their wedding day, while some brides wear offshoots of red, such as pink or orange. You won’t, however, see a Hindu bride wear white, since white is the color of mourning in India.</span></div><div><br /></div><div>I am not huge on ALL traditions but this is one I don't want to mess with. I'll take all the luck I can get my hands on! As far as design goes, there's a lot more flexibility. In my internet search for design ideas, I stumbled upon some photos of celebs donning beautiful wedding outfits. Check out Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum and Liz Hurley (my favorite) all rocking the desi bridal duds.</div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLHeNdkkNVnMIUvydx7B2qKuDjQNWTRKyWb9rgjwBDoFgiX7hkDOso21wsPbDp6fKKPuRQiwaX0KNS8mTz6heBzMdEUqVnA1o6l_9abQPLruRusHvKqfcywVaxDTsT51i6yABynLc_QGo/s1600-h/posh+for+vogue+india.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 228px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLHeNdkkNVnMIUvydx7B2qKuDjQNWTRKyWb9rgjwBDoFgiX7hkDOso21wsPbDp6fKKPuRQiwaX0KNS8mTz6heBzMdEUqVnA1o6l_9abQPLruRusHvKqfcywVaxDTsT51i6yABynLc_QGo/s320/posh+for+vogue+india.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422069494173213730" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Source: Vogue India magazine </div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKjgoG1W53nl2JLS5ZodXzfH0CenY9yWZF7-cVG5XO7ld677XSHfWjBSacPXiskaoabJptvXXb7IPDGmviNDS1M2HFF8VWSyGFDx0ng1btBlZnNFUdbEixP3NclG5DKkCvOhr-xUVs51o/s1600-h/heidi-klum-saree-indian-wedding+(sareedreams.com).jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 241px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKjgoG1W53nl2JLS5ZodXzfH0CenY9yWZF7-cVG5XO7ld677XSHfWjBSacPXiskaoabJptvXXb7IPDGmviNDS1M2HFF8VWSyGFDx0ng1btBlZnNFUdbEixP3NclG5DKkCvOhr-xUVs51o/s320/heidi-klum-saree-indian-wedding+(sareedreams.com).jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422069490614197970" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Source: <a href="http://sareedreams.com/">SareeDreams.com</a></div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEJgtrQPI9VknejBppc_u_b615fw-Ol0wuExOBvjbrf2qqC2ReloGl5z6taj5uznyCH9D1s59JKglCqK0xNFtRXvxLfTiW6O0Rxkd7Veum5eHnxu8NIgej-jgxWuGU7m_DpT1Jzws0qts/s1600-h/Liz+Hurley+2+(glam.com).jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 232px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEJgtrQPI9VknejBppc_u_b615fw-Ol0wuExOBvjbrf2qqC2ReloGl5z6taj5uznyCH9D1s59JKglCqK0xNFtRXvxLfTiW6O0Rxkd7Veum5eHnxu8NIgej-jgxWuGU7m_DpT1Jzws0qts/s320/Liz+Hurley+2+(glam.com).jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422069489019774338" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Source: <a href="http://glam.com/">Glam.com</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-mgoYwRCCBzJY7uZ_vZDdfYNk8zHnQnXjj0nV-NFcxWrZvomOeCHar0X-W7-9ZLg8bVNAOwcq2kxBTchbcGjWkrSWqFqqILSMVl4MnveDHNRY8_576lXNmDASWPbTuQz-vRLYYFyg4hw/s1600-h/Liz+Hurley+(glam.com).jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-mgoYwRCCBzJY7uZ_vZDdfYNk8zHnQnXjj0nV-NFcxWrZvomOeCHar0X-W7-9ZLg8bVNAOwcq2kxBTchbcGjWkrSWqFqqILSMVl4MnveDHNRY8_576lXNmDASWPbTuQz-vRLYYFyg4hw/s320/Liz+Hurley+(glam.com).jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422069482130474738" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Source: <a href="http://glam.com/">Glam.com</a></div>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-22394501108944428992009-12-21T00:13:00.000-08:002009-12-21T00:36:58.230-08:00Simply sweet centerpieces<div>Here are some simple sweet centerpieces that caught my eye. It just wouldn't be an Indian wedding without lots of color. As you can see, I created this board around some stunning images of flowers because well, flowers are just gorgeous. The rich, vibrant colors will fit perfectly with the location of our wedding since it's at a winery but also bring in the Indian flair. Rather than go purely with rustic vineyard colors (burgundy, chardonnay, and green), I chose to add some big pops of color with the fuchsia and flame. The champagne gold helps ground the bold colors while keeping with the rich look. I'm really loving the analogous palette of purple, red, and pink - they create a cohesive statement and at the same time allow for some needed variation in the color scheme. Sigh, I could never decide on just one color...<br /><br /><br /><p align="center"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-t68ec4H7IARl37lVc1ndE2BvejbQc1iGyR4zGqDghS0nNh6H-EB1okqmNSL5sBHrEDKEhmvP-W2yoO_DVlYcGMZj2JD4_pthl0auP9dkm8NICS8Q9Ryw0383bssP4HHyjAE2L4_HKDc/s1600-h/Slide1.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5415325616067141810" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-t68ec4H7IARl37lVc1ndE2BvejbQc1iGyR4zGqDghS0nNh6H-EB1okqmNSL5sBHrEDKEhmvP-W2yoO_DVlYcGMZj2JD4_pthl0auP9dkm8NICS8Q9Ryw0383bssP4HHyjAE2L4_HKDc/s320/Slide1.JPG" /></a><span style="font-size:85%;"> Image source: Karen Tran Florals (top left), <a href="http://www.fiftyflowers.com/product/Beautiful-Wedding-25-Roses-and-30-Mini-Calla-Lily-Pack_274.htm">Fifty Flowers </a>(top right), Town & Country Magazine (bottom images)</span></p>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-13446978291991124982009-12-14T00:13:00.000-08:002009-12-14T01:06:38.035-08:00Peacock feathers galore<div style="text-align: left;">One of the themes I'm considering for the big day is the Peacock theme. I've been seeing this in a lot of blogs but it would actually be meaningfully significant at our Indian wedding. Known for its beauty and grace the Peacock, which is the national bird of India, symbolizes beauty, prosperity, love and peace and is considered sacred. What a beautiful symbol for a wedding! Here are some lovely ideas I came across based on the theme.</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP7BCwXK1LSlr8x6f78SDCp74er2mgJ21RYK4DEPCXFaeXLqAhLGpPVoc82Pcx-HKkq1VjD7GCCqUSHZczAHTuoZqogHJTXweAcc2vpyDlZr1qjSNMnS3lCoiqr1vwO8Jf869tXkUrRlo/s1600-h/peacock+momental_designs930.jpg"><img style="display:block; I found some beautiful exotic Indian style cakes that would fit with our wedding. But lately I've been thinking that it would be great to do a twist on the traditional wedding cake. I'm all about tradition with a twist! Rather than going so high on the cake I think it would be a little more contemporary to just do a smaller version of one of these cakes (say, the top two tiers) and then bring in other desserts for a nice variety. It seems like cupcakes have been all the rage for the last few years so what about donuts? They would be so whimsical. Anyone who knows the fiance knows he loves PIE - doing a variety of cakes, pies and Indian desserts would be a fun way to make everyone happy and express our personality too.<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#0000EE;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="text-decoration: underline;"><br /></span></span></span></div></span></span></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA-yviqni4wTd-CgKn7yJKM0ijr3ob8ggoirEF7AvQQzm7HpbTPvpAPfxEUoucQg_W7G_BJpqQvGRfVKrp77dD2vUkegHJ2pXWK-wpL4WIV3LBy0jO61_5k6RK_MVmKVo5-Zmwj3skts4/s1600-h/maharani+cakes.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 149px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA-yviqni4wTd-CgKn7yJKM0ijr3ob8ggoirEF7AvQQzm7HpbTPvpAPfxEUoucQg_W7G_BJpqQvGRfVKrp77dD2vUkegHJ2pXWK-wpL4WIV3LBy0jO61_5k6RK_MVmKVo5-Zmwj3skts4/s320/maharani+cakes.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5414456498376366226" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Source: <a href="http://www.maharaniweddings.com/">Maharani Weddings</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrdh6I8OciPwkCoOxGOnGpR2ewN6CQgxC1iko1ZEZw3jC9O_v1l-vu7Mo-A8K9_D_VtZvtTYZ_DXmpVf5YMgXC6xGvkW4YD-hyrfOFjwD3gTwRZCbKaF1H79rE8F1YygXGoQ6BK4c4Rtw/s1600-h/burgundy+indian.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrdh6I8OciPwkCoOxGOnGpR2ewN6CQgxC1iko1ZEZw3jC9O_v1l-vu7Mo-A8K9_D_VtZvtTYZ_DXmpVf5YMgXC6xGvkW4YD-hyrfOFjwD3gTwRZCbKaF1H79rE8F1YygXGoQ6BK4c4Rtw/s320/burgundy+indian.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5414456495383691842" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbOZU74BhdZKIWgZuXAtGmC-3Dj4ZOlFUCakL7JYXl5hJ1CbBTemJxWP5_1Ot7TiRU1s46_XGI-Ch1p1PEmv0nNO3d_Dk33GhMiYm6srWlM8eCR38BPIzHJImy6KtWuIFQTFAuyj73z-4/s1600-h/peacock+cake.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 238px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbOZU74BhdZKIWgZuXAtGmC-3Dj4ZOlFUCakL7JYXl5hJ1CbBTemJxWP5_1Ot7TiRU1s46_XGI-Ch1p1PEmv0nNO3d_Dk33GhMiYm6srWlM8eCR38BPIzHJImy6KtWuIFQTFAuyj73z-4/s320/peacock+cake.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5414456490069884594" /></a><br /><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0ZGazPeRUhredePnqLBH_y998-j3PhBqQd8G2J1h-yFql3ohnJALQy4qAQPFRgU06EC8GqT3LKCsMaoKhyadP4sBfyzoce-JpZgH4i7r3h7AThSOv6ABu_WnrQj3AJNdi93-EzxKs_n4/s320/donut+cake.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5414456506900018530" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 213px; height: 320px; " /></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#0000EE;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfZhCELaBD1D0gBqUA7EfM9L7Ur4vlBzTexeS3-DDEWyLNcPS2xpIC3S27NMGA0r8hqzHXo-bQyMvf1uL5NB-fhv8szDGCrgMBLduME3qUuA18P3lPS88v1lJx2rSZGHgtyDKIGp0BZdc/s320/pies+(the+knot).jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5414456509757328498" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 310px; height: 300px; " /></span><div style="text-align: center;">Source: <a href="http://www.theknot.com">The Knot</a></div></div></div>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-38642606745087967532009-12-06T17:26:00.000-08:002009-12-06T20:02:22.954-08:00Platinum Weddings on WEtv features a decadent Socal Indian weddingMy Tivo is now filled with an array of wedding shows, much to my delight (and to the fiance's chagrin). I stumbled upon Platinum Weddings recently which is a show on WEtv. A recent episode featured a lavish - and I mean lavish - Indian wedding. It's a hotel wedding overlooking the beach in Santa Monica and let me tell you, no expense was spared. The show tells you what each major item costs so you can see and be astounded. The total budget was (gulp) $425,000! Makes me feel less guilty about my budget. <div><br /></div><div>The style isn't quite what we are going for because our wedding will be at a winery (think rustic elegance), but I took special note of a few unique touches. One of the bride's outfits featured a unique peacock design on the back and on the bottom of the lehenga. The turquoise blue color scheme makes a huge impact. The mandap was made out of acrylic and was filled with flowers and had crystals. Check out more pics <a href="http://www.wetv.com/photo-galleries/platinum-weddings-maya-and-pav/about-the-couple.html">here</a>.<div><div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjipe0Xq-AuuL4jT0ymsIJARiAg8k6opEryPvY1o4tsc5RQ3GazmyCE7-WPTMyWexNMYYgJtJOpCO1a2gVOSCZ8eZ9QhW1CrkYKdySnKSBnuTyTuRUKeSY_Au94aLHGs-c5cRZ1oQV74/s1600-h/Platinum+Wedding+3.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 296px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjipe0Xq-AuuL4jT0ymsIJARiAg8k6opEryPvY1o4tsc5RQ3GazmyCE7-WPTMyWexNMYYgJtJOpCO1a2gVOSCZ8eZ9QhW1CrkYKdySnKSBnuTyTuRUKeSY_Au94aLHGs-c5cRZ1oQV74/s320/Platinum+Wedding+3.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412302117016397762" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlnBK3WqI6bgHptxWyWo0gjF_I6egNPEbG1njykZ6EkWWpetSyvfm9h8RE1IrWUI10DSTlH5IB9f8iaZhPlxmek85kQmwfGbEq_3uIC3ehK857YYIzpVG53SWAO5ibzgVxtzz1Z_yZ-r8/s1600-h/Platinum+Wedding+2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 296px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlnBK3WqI6bgHptxWyWo0gjF_I6egNPEbG1njykZ6EkWWpetSyvfm9h8RE1IrWUI10DSTlH5IB9f8iaZhPlxmek85kQmwfGbEq_3uIC3ehK857YYIzpVG53SWAO5ibzgVxtzz1Z_yZ-r8/s320/Platinum+Wedding+2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412302111671981330" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU-AL_XRNe9oIrGsns95S2qY1NieDMIZDPrnCPJiOvVTkPIHrbvmNT3XnVIpm01a-q1LkymwEMRiwPo2PwcKxG5g7vdWODZnqpmfx4esRrNXdQj0VC_wT5YCmfNx8O2E94-nJ3xCVQKHw/s1600-h/Platinum+Wedding+1.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 296px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU-AL_XRNe9oIrGsns95S2qY1NieDMIZDPrnCPJiOvVTkPIHrbvmNT3XnVIpm01a-q1LkymwEMRiwPo2PwcKxG5g7vdWODZnqpmfx4esRrNXdQj0VC_wT5YCmfNx8O2E94-nJ3xCVQKHw/s320/Platinum+Wedding+1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412302106958328498" /></a></div></div></div></div>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-39692801109819860642009-12-06T16:25:00.000-08:002009-12-06T17:06:52.217-08:00Engagement gifts lead to yummy delights<div style="text-align: left;">We were fortunate to get a Macy's gift card as an engagement gift. I really haven't given much thought to the registry yet. But as of late, the fiance and I have been on a foodie kick. Well, probably more me, but he's along for the ride. I'm pretty much addicted to the Food Network (Barefoot Contessa and Tyler's Ultimate are my current favorites). Needless to say, we had a field day getting a few fun gadgets for the kitchen, including a two-sided grill pan, a silicone basting brush, immersion blender, and cake pan.</div><div><br /></div><div>The latter two resulted in this yummy Raspberry Buttermilk Cake (baked at 1:00 am last night). It seemed only fitting to get a cake stand. We found this simple little glass number at Target for $10. And get this - the cloche (aka dome) that comes with it can be turned upside down to make a punch bowl! Two for one, love it.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiHuBjJxHjs98ZcAaUBr_M5iOvP_xhkzgRwGjHpCJz-hGt_F0BBuYI2BK5WEZD8B2yNhi-ZAm8traZx9rBoAOPUePcoPKj9GWvsWlq6Rahy_-8UKKqX3U8VCy7hQrX4OCr0NgQ_CiNGuk/s320/cake.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412293664620413346" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></span></div>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-14828078482040440702009-12-04T00:23:00.000-08:002009-12-04T00:44:19.355-08:00Tips on Entertaining from a Fashion Designer<div style="text-align: left;">My previous post included a beautiful table setting featured in Town & Country Magazine that was designed by Naeem Khan, who is a fashion designer to celebs like Beyonce and Eva Longoria. I found this wonderful little article on WSJ.com that has some great tips from him. Here are my favorites:</div><div><br /></div><div>o Keep it simple... use color but don't go crazy with colors (it's so easy to go crazy with colors!)</div><div><br /></div><div>o Line up a row of white candles in varying heights along the center of the table (hmmm, more impactful on long tables but probably a decent idea for round tables too)</div><div><br /></div><div>o Use herbs to decorate... wrap a rosemary twig around a napkin (so simple and rustic)</div><div><br /></div><div>o Serve your guests a special cocktail as soon as they walk through the door (I am all over the "signature cocktail" idea, now if I can only decide what it will be...)</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLP-NEPBHVdi6hyo-0EX8zh5KAv8F5JtToMXFKYxl93AjiukCjBaB1rUSrZ1yo201B9v3Pd3ooOq7o7olNFVl8yDGdOf1w_6Pm7zdD5tEdmSeET7YHYdJVUXzFHWl5vhbMo7LKE5xFScU/s320/T&C1.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411298884244798770" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 254px; height: 320px; " /></span></div>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-69998687007025577652009-12-03T23:54:00.000-08:002009-12-06T19:42:32.451-08:00The Lush Look with Flowers<div style="text-align: left;">In my slightly obsessive search for all things amazing for my wedding, I frequently find myself dawdling on flowers. What gal doesn't love flowers?! And I've been gravitating towards low centerpieces that showcase big blooming flowers in a streamlined palette. Being that it's an Indian wedding and all, I pretty much know that I've got to have some vibrant colors going to keep with the theme. But I love the notion of sticking to a simple bright palette to make a strong statement. It dawned on me that Indian weddings, in a way, sort of decorate themselves because all of the "aunties" wear such bold and colorful prints in their sari's. So it could easily get muddled by going crazy with all different flowers in too many colors. Sticking to one color family also seems to make it easier to achieve a full, lush look. At the risk of using a ridiculously overused word in the world of wedding blogs, I think these are just super CHIC while still being colorful and vibrant.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-GuF-fFYliGPwRY9HpVkAwhrAp_bwtMxkdqRlY1s0WgH1Za5c0zfb3SDk6iSNczLQF1wsPzl-2e3DRfmvM31NI2z_H7ub6hqPrxHuYVhC924AWB3x4sBNLzRB7KSDuAn_jgArcc44Y1k/s320/T&C2.JPG" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 198px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411289313132561906" /><div style="text-align: center;">Source: Town & Country Magazine, October 2009</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaKQhehMiGVEFAP6xGct8mWCNY8R3UxdDKwVXohY7pjCVG6JjVhoaDUxgKcdkE573cxP3dxn8F74xGor87uOlP5A7fPCMiXTHDmHwTdGejCzNcPiS7NdITfId2mj3Feb2ovE06SYl_o2A/s320/Fresh+green+flower+pots.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 209px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411290218729908450" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Source: <a href="http://www.huckleberrykarendesigns.com">Huckleberry Karen Designs</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixxhhyDfRRG7NkbCROBhgT5V_0wCG3Yt1UknkZZ7fEcaEK1lGhK6N8AVeO6-cPiGiawXdHtlTamuJESsp97TTY8bGyMvAVEciU3GGtl3kvHg5y44vsrVAL2LwErQh-jaxdbMC8c0BA81Y/s320/Huckleberry+purple.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411291661977040914" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 217px; " /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Source: <a href="http://www.huckleberrykarendesigns.com">Huckleberry Karen Designs</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhf2zTfSWCmQBpZecbuaWhpdiEIV4cw2_AH8Tx4aOWqFa-UGwWsi8nqTtGTzRO-Ns3xWQI8kRo_nIOdA0CTJqa7qXnGcoe9BHp5qS1snbNpzrOkFq1HTSfxo8gFeO1q9GwNPcCsrLJVUw/s1600-h/Wedding_Flower_Callas_and_Roses_Combo_500.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhf2zTfSWCmQBpZecbuaWhpdiEIV4cw2_AH8Tx4aOWqFa-UGwWsi8nqTtGTzRO-Ns3xWQI8kRo_nIOdA0CTJqa7qXnGcoe9BHp5qS1snbNpzrOkFq1HTSfxo8gFeO1q9GwNPcCsrLJVUw/s320/Wedding_Flower_Callas_and_Roses_Combo_500.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411289308679483874" /></a><br /><div><br /></div>The Paisley Bridehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14617643398751977451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349861455370459730.post-20743475532727473102009-11-29T22:50:00.000-08:002009-11-29T23:24:37.703-08:00Lovely invitation designs<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Here are some invitation inspirations that are fun, bold, colorful and wonderful eye candy. I will freely admit that I am not the most</span></span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:100%;">up-to-speed on Indian weddings. Frankly, I haven’t been to that many and so I’m not really sure about a lot of protocols. One thing I have discovered in talking to friends and looking at photographer blogs is that it seems like most </span></span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:100%;">Indian American brides wear one outfit for the ceremony and then change into a </span></span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:100%;">completely </span></span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:100%;">different outfit </span></span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:100%;">for the reception. I’m totally down for two different outfits!</span></span></p><p style="margin-top: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0pt; "><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:100%;"></span></span></p><p style="margin-top: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0pt; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p style="margin-top: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0pt; "><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:100%;">There are a couple of reasons why this works on a practical level. My ceremony is probably going to be fairly conservative and therefore I want to be covered up to be more respectful. On the other hand, for the reception I expect to be bee-bopping around and, of course, dancing(!) so I want something more fun and easy to move around in. I’m pretty sure I want a lehenga for the reception and for the ceremony either a lehenga or a sari. As a sari novice, I don’t think I could boogie down in it – I would constantly be stiff and worrying about it unraveling.</span></span></p><p style="margin-top: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt; Mind you, I really really want to be, but I am just starting the wedding planning process so we're taking baby steps here people. My first foray into adding a little DIY flair to the mix is with the thank you cards for my engagement party. My wonderful parents were kind enough to throw my fiance and I an engagement party to celebrate with family and friends (mostly family friends :)). It was a lovely fete and everyone who attended was as kind as can be. To thank them for their generosity with the gifts, I of course wanted to send thank you cards as soon as possible. Since we haven't had to make very many decisions on colors and themes just yet, I decided to find a cute little box o cards at Target. (Can I just exclaim by the way, I so HEART Target. Might not be the last time I exclaim that.) Target has great stuff, case in point some cute letterpress cards - affordable luxury! 50 cards for $12.99.
